Why Is Everyone Sad?

どうしてみんな悲しいの?

At a rain-soaked 1990s Seattle show, the traveler's jokes fail until they stop trying to repair the sadness and listen to what the music is carrying.雨に濡れた1990年代のシアトルで、旅人は悲しみを直そうとするのをやめ、音楽が抱えているものへ耳を澄ます。

Behind the Track楽曲の背景

The traveler arrives outside a 1990s Seattle venue in pouring rain and immediately tries to improve the mood. They offer encouragement, attempt jokes, and even try to start a wave. Nobody is interested.

Inside, everything feels dark, heavy, and painfully sincere. The traveler's usual response — smile, improvise, keep moving — does not work here. Eventually, they stop trying to make the sadness disappear and simply sit with what the music is carrying.

That pause becomes the album's emotional pivot. Sometimes people do not need cheering up or solving. Sometimes they need room for the feeling to become loud enough to be heard.

Lyrics歌詞

Stepped out of the sunshine into pouring rain
Everything is flannel, everything is pain
Some dude in a beanie just sighed at the wall
I said "hey man, what's up?" — he didn't talk at all

What year is this?
...Why is everyone sad?

The guitar sounds like thunder dragged through broken glass
I asked the bartender to smile — she just walked past
Somebody wrote "whatever" on the bathroom stall
I wrote "cheer up, dude" underneath — nobody laughed at all

This is so heavy

I've been to Shanghai ballrooms, golden Phnom Penh nights
Tokyo in neon, disco's blinding lights
But nothing — nothing hits like this

I don't get it, I don't get it, but the riff won't let me go
Everything is dark and loud and beautiful and slow
They said the world is pointless — okay, that's a bummer though
Wrong place, wrong time, I'm fine
But seriously — why is everyone sad?

I tried to start a wave, they looked at me like trash
Gave a thumbs up to the drummer — he just played the crash
The singer screamed like something broke inside his chest
I wanted to say "it's all good, bro" but... maybe not the best

I don't get it, I don't get it, but the riff won't let me go
Everything is dark and loud and beautiful and slow
They said the world is pointless — okay, that's a bummer though
Wrong place, wrong time, I'm fine
But seriously — why is everyone sad?

Okay wait... maybe I get it now
The rain keeps falling and it doesn't stop
Sometimes you don't need someone to fix it
Sometimes you just need it to be loud

I don't get it — no, I think I kinda do
Everything is dark and loud and beautiful and true
The world is heavy... eh, close enough to know
Wrong place, wrong time
But this one hits different, though

The feedback rings... the rain keeps falling
And for once, the traveler's got nothing funny to say
