At 11:47, the team chat is quiet and the one-slide summary is still blank. The manager copies over a slipped dependency, its effect on the launch, and a decision needed by morning.
“Blocked” becomes “challenged.” The consequence becomes “potential impact.” The deadline for a decision gives way to “monitoring closely.” Each sentence survives scrutiny while the owner, urgency, consequence, and request fall out of the picture.
The senior room reads the three bullets and moves on. By morning, the same wording returns as certainty: the date is unchanged and no support is needed. The manager has made the warning easy to repeat and impossible to act on. Three immaculate bullets fill the page. None of the people do.
