The request is narrow: remove one nonessential requirement and keep the deadline, yes or no? It should take one decision. Instead, it starts a tour.
Let Me Check follows the question through forwarded messages, reassigned tickets, coordination meetings, and carefully written recaps. Every handoff adds useful background, but the answer becomes harder to find. Eventually the question returns to the person who asked it, now wrapped in a request for their own assessment.
The checking itself is not the joke. The missing mandate is. Everyone can add context; nobody can make the call. The thread grows longer, and the deadline does not move.
求めている判断は限定的だ。必須ではない要件をひとつ外し、締め切りは維持する。それでよいか、よくないか。必要なのは、ひとつの決定だけのはずだ。ところが質問は、社内を巡る旅に出る。
『Let Me Check』は、転送されたメッセージ、担当を付け替えられたチケット、調整会議、念入りに書かれたまとめを経ていく質問を追う。引き継ぎのたびに役立つ背景情報は増えるが、答えはかえって見つけにくくなる。やがてその質問は、最初に投げた本人のもとへ戻ってくる――本人自身の見解を求める依頼に包まれて。
確認そのものがおかしいのではない。おかしいのは、誰にも決定権が与えられていないことだ。誰もが背景情報を足せるのに、誰も判断を下せない。スレッドだけが伸び、締め切りは動かない。
