The Mushroom That Got Away

It started with a craving.

One ordinary fasting day, a friend woke up with one thing on her mind: mushrooms. The golden, sautéed, crispy kind — the kind that haunts you while you're counting down the hours to iftar.

She headed to the bazaar with one mission. Instead, she found tomatoes, chillies, onions, beans, and seemingly every vegetable on earth except the one she wanted.

Dinner still happened. Nasi ayam, kuih, air sirap. Everyone was full and satisfied. But even after the plates were cleared, she was still thinking about that mushroom.

Across three songs, the craving bounces through indie pop, charges into a funky pop-rock quest, and melts into a late-night R&B comedown.

Some cravings don't go away just because you're full. Some cravings become legends.

This is that story.

それは、ひとつの「食べたい」から始まった。

いつもと変わらない断食の日、友人は、ひとつのことだけを頭に浮かべて目を覚ました。マッシュルームだ。こんがり炒めた、カリッとした黄金色のやつ——イフタールまでの残り時間を指折り数えているあいだ、ずっと頭から離れないようなやつ。

彼女は、ただひとつの使命を胸にバザールへ向かった。ところが、そこにあったのはトマト、唐辛子、玉ねぎ、豆、それに地球上のありとあらゆる野菜——ただし、彼女が欲しかったものだけはなかった。

それでも夕食は始まった。ナシアヤム（マレーシア風チキンライス）、クエ（マレーシアの伝統菓子）、アイル・シラップ（甘いシロップドリンク）。みんな満腹で満足していた。でも、皿が片づけられたあとも、彼女はまだあのマッシュルームのことを考えていた。

3曲を通して、その「食べたい」はインディーポップで弾み、ファンキーなポップロックの捜索劇へ突進し、夜更けのR&Bの余韻へと溶けていく。

お腹がいっぱいになったからといって、消えてくれない「食べたい」もある。伝説になる「食べたい」もある。

これは、そんな物語だ。
