Someone looking at the finished result calls the task straightforward. The person expected to execute it sees everything the estimate leaves out: reading the brief, tracing the history, making decisions, checking consequences, revising the result, and defending the handoff.
Outwardly, the employee asks a professional question: could you walk us through the steps behind that estimate? Internally, the request becomes a fair test. Use the same brief, tools, deadline, and standard. Skip nothing. Then call the work easy.
Start the Clock ends before the imagined demonstration begins. The cursor is ready and the first step is waiting, but there is no winner, resignation, or repaired workplace. The employee has simply drawn a boundary: only an estimate that touches the work can be defended.
出来上がったものだけを見て、誰かが「単純な仕事だ」と言う。だが、実行を任される人には、その見積もりから抜け落ちたものがすべて見えている。依頼内容を読み、これまでの経緯をたどり、判断し、影響を確かめ、成果物を修正し、引き継ぎを説明することだ。
