She opens the laptop only to check. One message from the boss says there is no rush. She reads it twice, decides it is not a trick, and closes the screen.
The rest of the day is tea, sock feet on wood, a smile drawn into window fog, and four pages of a book that has waited patiently on the shelf. The world is still moving outside, but this room does not have to chase it.
